Course Introduction

A computer network, or data network, is a digital telecommunications network which allows nodes to share resources. In computer networks, computing devices exchange data with each other using connections between nodes (data links.) These data links are established over cable media such as wires or optic cables.

It is a two-way process that involves developing and maintaining connections with individuals, and mutually benefiting from the relationship.

Common types of area networks are: ... WAN - Wide Area Network. WLAN - Wireless Local Area Network. MAN - Metropolitan Area Network. SAN - Storage Area Network, System Area Network, Server Area Network, or sometimes Small Area Network.
